What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a form of therapy that utilises hypnosis to bypass the conscious mind so we can make positive suggestions to the receptive subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is where all the relevant information is stored to make long lasting change to any unwanted thoughts, feelings or behavioural patterns. Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state which you will go into multiple times a day without realising. It is also the state you wake up in and the state you fall asleep in.

Most people describe the sensation of being in hypnosis as being much like daydreaming and is a state that can occur naturally when you are completing tasks that are very familiar to you. For example have you ever found yourself driving home from work and when you get home realise that your mind “skipped” part of the journey? If you have experienced this it was likely you were in hypnosis. Just like when you daydream you remain aware of everything around you but it’s like your mind has slowed down and it's focus narrows as you get ‘lost in thought’.
As the hypnotherapist I will help to guide you into this naturally occurring state so we can begin creating space for shifts to occur at the subconscious level.
Benefits of Hypnotherapy
One of the main benefits of hypnotherapy it's ability to utilise hypnosis to be able to access the subconscious mind. Essentially you can think of the mind as being split into two main parts: the conscious and the subconscious mind.
The part that you access during the day to make decisions is the conscious mind. It holds everything that you are aware of in this current moment. That could be feelings that you have, or it could be thoughts or memories you are thinking about now. It is also the part of your mind responsible for rational/ critical thinking or analysing processes and willpower.
The subconscious mind holds everything that you are not aware of at this current moment. Memories from throughout your lifetime, all your automated behaviours e.g. walking, talking and it holds the control center for all of your emotions and feelings. This part of your mind is responsible for doing the bulk of the daily processing (about 95%) compared to the conscious mind which is only responsible for 5%.
Why Access the Subconscious Mind?
By being able to access the larger more prominent part of your mind it allows us to be able to get to the root cause of anything that could be stopping you from achieving the desired outcome you are after. Then we can begin creating space for positive shifts to occur. The subconscious mind is also home to the control centre of your emotions and it has a big influence over how you process day to day situations via patterns of behaviour and belief systems.
